Pickering ready to bounce into glory

High-flying Trampoline Gymnastics star, Jessica Pickering is set to make her Olympic debut this afternoon at the Ariake Gymnastics Centre.

Pickering will compete in Women’s Trampoline, set to kick off at 2pm (AEST) this afternoon.

In an impressive line-up, Pickering will be the first of 16 athletes to compete in Qualification, with the top 8 gymnasts progressing through to the final, to be held later this afternoon.

We recently spoke with Sydney 2000 silver medalist, Ji Wallace to get his thoughts on Friday’s session.

“I am very much looking forward to watching all the action from Tokyo and am very excited to see both a male and female representative in Trampoline for the first time since Sydney.

“I believe Jess will have to hit a ‘hot’ routine to make the final, and if they do, the final is anyone’s game,” Wallace said.

Pickering will come up against Japanese athletes, Mori Hikaru and Doihata Chisato, who placed first and second at the 2019 World Championships.

For the first time since edging her out for the title of Oceania Continental Champion by just 0.08, Pickering will compete against New Zealand’s Maddie Davidson.
