Clarke ready to take flight
Australian Champion, Dominic Clarke is just hours away from taking to the Ariake Gymnastics Centre in his Olympic debut in the Men’s Trampoline Qualification.
Clarke will compete alongside 16 of the world’s best, vying for the title of Olympic Champion.
Amongst the highly talented field, Clarke will be the eighth gymnast to take to flight in this afternoon’s important Qualification session.
The session will kick off at 2pm (AEST), with the top 8 ranked gymnasts progressing through to the Final, to be held later this afternoon.
Australian trampoline hero, Ji Wallace spoke ahead of Dom’s session with great excitement.
“I am very much looking forward to watching all the action from Tokyo and I am very excited to see both a male and female representative in Trampoline for the first time since Sydney.”
“I believe both Dom will have to hit 'hot' routines to make the finals and if they do then the finals is anyone's game,” Wallace said.
Clarke will go up against China’s Geo Lei and Dong Dong, 2016 Rio champion, Belarussian, Uladzislau Hancharou and ROC’s Dmitrii Ushakov.
“The Belarussians, Chinese and hometown athletes of Japan are the ones to watch,” Wallace said.
Trans-Tasman rival, Dylan Schmidt will also be one to keep an eye out for.
