Bull ready to make history
Tyson Bull will make history tonight, being the first Australian men’s artistic gymnast to compete in an Olympic Apparatus Final.
Bull qualified for the Horizontal Bar Final in his breath-taking performance last Saturday, scoring an impressive 14.433, a personal best on the international stage.
The Final will be without two of the all-time Horizontal Bar greats, Epke Zonderland (NED) and Uchimura Kohei (JPN), leaving the field wide open for any of the eight finalists to snatch gold.
Bull will go up against Japan’s Daiki Hashimoto and Takeru Kitazono, Kazakhstan’s Milad Karimi, Croatia’s Tin Srbić, the United States’ Brody Malone, and the Russian Olympic Committee’s Nikita Nagornyy and Netherlands’ Bart Deurloo.
The long 11-day break between Qualifications and tonight’s Final has allowed Bull ample time to recover and prepare for his history making night.
Tonight’s session will also feature the Parallel Bars and Balance Beam Finals.
The session is set to kick off at 6:00pm (AEST), with the Horizontal Bar Final coming in the final rotation, expected to begin at 7:30pm (AEST).
