Leading Coaches Conference

Registration for the Leading Coaches Conference with guest presenter Nick Ruddock is now open.
Nick Ruddock contributed to historic medal winning performances on the international stage throughout his four-year term with British Gymnastics as National Coach. Nick represented Great Britain and Team GB on numerous occasions throughout his national coaching role, culminating with the 2014 Junior European Championships, where the British girls captured a historic six-medal haul including a record Team Silver ahead of European superpower Romania.
 
Nick, a former personal coach to Amy Tinkler; European, World and Olympic Medallist, has learnt and been mentored by some of the world’s most experienced and accomplished coaches in several influential countries.

Nick has lectured as a Technical Expert for the UEG (Union of European Gymnastics) for 7 years, and now consults for over a dozen international gymnastics federations and a variety of performance sports, with a mission of optimizing athlete and coach performance for the world stage.
The 3 day conference will be held from 17th - 19th November at the Gymnastics Qld High Performance Centre.

Georgia Shines at 2017 World Championships


Congratulations to Georgia Godwin (Delta Gymnastics Brisbane) and her coaches Olga & Sasha Belooussov, who was Australia’s top performer at the 2017 Artistic
Gymnastics World Championships in Montreal. Georgia reached the All-Around Final, placing 13th overall, seven places higher than her 20th position in Qualifications.

Congratulations to Rianna Mizzen (GQ HPC/ Lawnton Academy of Artistic Gymnastics) and her coach Peter Abbott who also competed at the World Championships.

Queensland Athletes at the Gymnastics New Zealand National Championships


Three Queensland level 10 athletes, Rachael Graham (Gold Coast Gymnastics Club), Karleigh Fraser (Maroochy Beach Gymnastics) and Tiana Odessa (360 Gymnastics), recently competed for Australia in the Trans Tasman Challenge held in Nelson, New Zealand.

The team of Tiana Odessa and Rachael Graham won the Silver Medal. While in the All-Around Tiana took home the silver medal, with Rachael Graham placing 5th Overall. Tiana also placed 1st on Beam and Floor, and Rachael placed 3rd on Bars.Congratulations to all girls and we hope you had a fabulous time representing your country.

WAG SMC

Following the SPTA, held at Junior State Championships in September, the SMC for 2017/18 was announced. The SMC is always willing to receive feedback from the community. All regional areas have a dedicated SMC representative in their area:

The SMC meets monthly and are always happy to receive feedback and ideas from the community. Please feel free to contact your local SMC representative at any stage if you have anything to discuss.

Judges Needed!

Wanting more judging practice and experience?

Clubs are looking for judges who are willing to judge for them at events!

There is a centralised database where judges can register their willingness to be contacted by affiliated Gymnastics Queensland Clubs . Your contact details will be made available to affiliated Gymnastics Queensland Clubs via their Club GOL portal.

WAG State Judging Co-ordinator - Casual Vacancy

At the recent WAG SPTA, the position of State Judging Coordinator was declared a casual vacancy.  The WAG SMC are now calling for expressions of interest for this position. Expressions of interest should be submitted on the official form available here. Nominations close Friday 27th October 2017.

Judges Course Exemptions

Some candidates may be eligible for an exemption from attending the beginner and/or a higher level of judges course.
