CHANGE TO Pommel Deductions
The GA MAG Commission has endeavoured with the current MAG ALP to address the need to accelerate the development of Pommels in Australian gymnastics.
It acknowledges, however, that an adequate mastery of double leg circles can take many boys one or two years or more.
Routines at Level 3 and beyond are built heavily on double leg circles and offer boys who are not yet competent at the skill an inordinate opportunity to incur penalties for falls. In this respect, Pommel Horse is clearly not in line with the other apparatus.
The Commission has considered this and has decided that for Levels 3 and 4 the penalty for a fall should be reduced to 0.5. This provision will take effect immediately and will be applied at the forthcoming National Clubs Carnival.
Huge Congratulations to Michael Tone
on his selection into the Australian Team for the 2019 World Gymnastics Championships!
